    Reformed church St. François

    Lausanne (CH)

The Church of St. François, in the heart of Lausanne, now has 4 organs. They constitute ‘Organopole’, a veritable organ centre.

Both organs were overhauled and slightly modified to adapt them to their position on the new galleries. An additional stop was added to the Italian organ. The Spanish organ was moved from the Church of St. Laurent in Lausanne.
Sitting opposite each other, the two instruments are used, amongst other things, for two-organ repertoire of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Meantone temperament, stops typical of Spanish and Italian (Venetian) organ-building, short octave with split keys (Spanish organ), hand-operated wedge bellows, etc. are some of the features of these instruments, built as stylistic copies.
Pipe-builder Marco Venegoni and voicer Jean-Marie Tricoteaux contributed to the success of the project. Its initiator and driving force is the Organist, Benjamin Righetti. The organs are used extensively for concerts and recordings, and for teaching conservatoire students.
