House organ for Romantic music with French sounds.
In the building of this new instrument, the sound of a French Romantic organ was translated to the dimensions of a house organ, so the tonal character of this style could come into its own. The versatile specification was designed by Frédéric Champion and allows a great variety of stop combinations, owing to alternate sliders and transmissions.
Various instruments served as models for scaling and technical details: the Alain organ in Romainmôtier (Switzerland), the Verschneider organ in Bessoncourt (France), the Didier and Callinet organs in Belfort (France), the Merklin organ in Jassans-Riottier (France), and the measurements and progressions of Cavaillé-Coll. Except for the Montre, all stops are in the swell box to allow for maximum expressivity. To save space and ensure accessibility, the instrument can be moved on castors.
The tonal research and voicing were carried out in collaboration with the pipe-builder Marco Venegoni. CD recording available
